CALL FOR PROPOSALS FOR

KLAIPĖDA FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS 2024

LT

KLAIPĖDA FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS, the only such festival by the sea, invites artists, designers, lighting professionals, students, educational institutions from Lithuania and abroad to apply for the festival in 2024, which will take place on FEBRUARY 15–17.

Organizers of the festival invite to become a part of the event and propose repetitive or unique projects, the ones that have not yet been displayed, for the brightest event in winter. Although most of the festival projects take place outdoors, proposals are also available for indoor spaces (it is preferable to indicate a specific place).

Programme and map of the festival in 2024 will be formed based on two mottos: stories untold and connections of the city. Light projects can reflect on one of the proposed themes or interpret it creatively.

Scientists unanimously agree that both natural and artificial light have a positive impact on human health and emotional state, therefore we will prioritize projects which are based on the idea of positive impact of light on people and the wellbeing of the community.

Those interested are welcome to submit an application by using the form provided below by 19 May 2023 . Projects will be selected by the commission made up of representatives from Public Institution “Klaipėdos šventės”, Klaipėda City Municipality Culture department and art community.

The date of the festival

Klaipėda Festival of Lights will take place on 15–17 February 2024, each day from 7 PM to 11 PM. Some installations can be displayed for a longer period of time if they are resistant to changes in weather and do not require supervision. Please note that the country celebrates the State Restoration Day on February 16.

Area of the event

Klaipėda Festival of Lights brightens up Klaipėda old town every year, and only separate projects of the festival invite to further areas of the city. In 2024, the festival will remain in Klaipėda old town, however projects can be offered for areas located further as well.

Weather conditions

The temperature can range from –25 °C to +10 °C in Klaipėda in February. Please consider other possible meteorological phenomena that are common for this time of year, such as snow, fog, strong winds turning into a storm.
