KLAIPĖDA LIGHT FESTIVAL 2023
FEBRUARY 23-25

ON THE EVENINGS OF FEBRUARY 23-25, the 8th KLAIPĖDA FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS returns to the old town streets and squares. The festival inviting everyone to Klaipėda astonishes everyone with colorful, artistic, unique, interactive projects annually.

Three evenings of responsible, sustainable and popular art interesting for both well-known creators and each visitor of the festival. With changes in the world, we change as well.

Part of projects will be expecting visitors during daytime as well, however, in the evening, these projects will become even more charming with the addition of lights.

VIII KLAIPĖDA FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS returns with the reflection on the changing world, the impact of light on each of us, the past, present and future.
  • We care.
  • We strive for the cleaner city, country, planet.
  • We create cleaner ideas.
  •  We invite the art community creating sustainable, long-term, responsible projects for the festival.
  • We care for the city’s community, therefore provide a possibility to educate, represent, inspire, promote positive change.
  • For us, it matters to be the first, innovative, sustainable.
  • We create a different Klaipėda Festival of Lights.

INSTALLATION “MONOLITH” WILL GENERATE ENERGY FOR KLAIPĖDA FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

Light installation “Monolith” is one of the most significant projects of Klaipėda Festival of Lights in 2023 responding to the current topics of great relevance concerning energy saving and sustainability.

Installation comprises 50 solar modules that convert solar energy into electricity by transmitting it to the grid. The energy generated will be used for the needs of Klaipėda Festival of Lights once it will be allocated to Public Institution “Klaipėdos šventės”.

“Monolith”, which can also be translated as a “modern God”, reflects the paradoxes of today’s world based on our absolute dependence on energy resources, modern technologies, and artificial intelligence.

The project aims to draw attention to Klaipėda Festival of Lights across Lithuania, not only as a leader of the region in the context of similar festivals, but also as an equal competitor in the league of European festivals of lights, which generates trends and implements them successfully.

 SUSTAINABLE LIGHT CREATORS:
IDEA – Public Institution “Klaipėdos šventės”
SOLAR COLLECTORS – UAB “Laba energija“
SCAFFOLDING CONSTRUCTION – UAB “Globalita“, UAB “Layher Baltic”
